Auditorium of the Fran Lhotka Music School
2022
Sisak, Croatia
Originally built in 1894 according to plans by architect Franjo Klein, the former synagogue in the city center was desacralized during and after World War II and later adapted as a music school. Through various renovations, all decorative elements were lost, proportions were altered, and the interior was subdivided into smaller spaces. The façade restoration is based on archival drawings from 1894 and a 1923 postcard. The building’s new purpose is as an auditorium for the music school. During the works, previously hidden ceiling and wall paintings were uncovered; these will be restored to their original state based on conservation studies.
